SDN east-west interface (SDNi), is a way to establish communication between multiple SDN controllers so as to share control plane parameters like Quality of Service (QoS) and policy information. Interconnecting these controllers to share information and coordinate their decisions is important for routing information and providing quality of service. In large scale SDN network, enterprises will divide the whole network into multiple connected SDN domains (for federated SDN controllers) for better scalability, security & manageability. The presentation will discuss the growing business need for east-west communication interface between SDN controllers, and how Border Gateway Protocol can be used for establishing this communication for collecting and successfully sharing information to/from federated controllers with current implementation of SDNi in Helium and a roadmap for Lithium release
