This talk goes over how to use Intent based compiler prototype from the ONF to write SDN applications that are portable across different controller runtimes. The intents and applications provide the ability to describe high level network logic that can be enforced and executed by a proper controller runtime. This specific runtime has been implement within OpenDaylight by the newly created Network Intent Composition and it advertises the proper primitives required to express application-level functionality. The applications can be written in any orthogonal domain specific languages which also makes it portable across other SDN controllers such as ONOS or Ryu. This runtime also makes it easier to write applications without directly interacting with wire protocols like OpenFlow or Netconf.
